Manual and Technical Education I and II

The global objectives in these programs do not describe either the learning situations or the types of evaluation that can be used to evaluate students’ progress. Instead, they are intended to guide the teacher in orienting his/her teaching strategy while providing students with an idea of how the program can benefit them.

The Manual and Technical Education programs should enable the students to reach certain general goals related to knowledge, skills, and attitudes. These include :
  • developing and awareness of their potential by means of concrete and useful activities;
  • applying a basic knowledge of English language arts and mathematics in creating simple technical objects;
  • acquiring knowledge and manual skills related to the different areas of technical activities in everyday life (sometimes called generic skills);
  • developing positive and safety-conscious attitudes towards the basic techniques used in making objects;
  • developing positive attitudes towards their mother tongue (English) and mathematics;
  • developing positive behaviours towards a given task, instructions received, and the use of tools and machine tools;
  • acquiring a rational working method.

The goal of the Manual and Technical Education programs is to help students develop skills and knowledge linked to the English Language Arts and Mathematics programs while enabling then to acquire technical knowledge and skills by means of an interdisciplinary approach.
