More specifically, the Second Cycle Home Economics course is intended to give the young adult in Secondary IV or Secondary V the opportunity :
- to become familiar with the principles and techniques of the management process so that he can apply them effectively in the areas of :
- foods and nutrition,
- clothing,
- housing;
- to become familiar with the concepts of needs and resources on both personal and social levels;
- to learn how to apply the management process in different everyday life situations involving :
- foods and nutrition,
- clothing,
- housing.
In accordance with the prevailing conception of school education in Québec, the course emphasizes the development of certain values in pupils, namely :
- autonomy and responsibility,
- openness to people and things,
- critical judgment,
- disciplined work habits,
- respect for the environment.
